I've Been Robbed!

Literally. Monday morning I packed the kids up and headed out to the van, and was greeted by the signs of a ransack. Granted, I left my car unlocked (lesson learned) but luckily didn't have much of value in it except for Ben's DVD player.  He was annoyed to find his commute entertainment gone and his gum stolen. The only other thing they took was my new $4 sunglasses. Dave's truck was unlocked too (I know, how dumb are we), but nothing was missing, despite the high-end stereo system and two-way radio that was in plain sight, so we figure they must have gotten nervous. It was halloween night and probably just some punk kids. Hmm...think that was my trick for giving out cards instead of candy the night before? Nonetheless, I am feeling a little less secure and had to triple-check my car and house before I could go to sleep last night.

Most days I work I've started this routine of picking up Alex 30 minutes to an hour before I leave and nursing him while I multitask at my desk. Suffering from sleep deprivation (for whatever reason, he sleeps great at home but only takes cat naps at daycare,) he generally conks out pretty quickly. Got to love sleeping babies.

And then when the innocence ends they become violent 3 year olds. I feel like we do a pretty good job of sheltering Ben from movies and video games inappropriate for his age, but nonetheless he's constantly talking about shooting, killing and the like. Here's the scene I came upon yesterday. Poor little army man. What would it be like to have a little girl that preferred dressup?

I promised I'd post pictures from halloween weekend, so here they are:

Ben and his best buddy Sawyer ready for the pumpkin spook alley

All the pumpkins were carved or painted by elementary school children. This was my favorite "Imagination is key to my pumpkin".  Now that's a kid with self-confidence!

Getting ready for the daycare parade...Ben with his "girlfriend" Pearl, though she doesn't look particularly thrilled to be with him here:)

With good friends and partners in crime, Luke and Josh. Can you guess which kid belongs to the mom that doesn't have her act together (white plastic bag vs cute pumpkin for candy). That's right, Ben!

And not to be outdone...baby Chewbacca with Sara (one of the preschool teachers).

Ben's quote of the day: (When a piece of gum fell out of the wrapper) "Do you know why it did that?  I think there's a grasshopper in there."

  1. Love the Chewie costume. And the pirate, of course.

  2. Obviously there was a grasshopper in there! Gum doesn't just fall out of the wrapper by itself, cha!

  3. Are you sure you want a girl? I'll trade Pearl for Ben! It would be a nice change from drama queen to killing machine!

  4. Alright Jenny, after work tomorrow we'll switch for the weekend:)
