I do pretty well with washing and drying the clothes but getting them folded and put away is a whole 'nother story. And having my washer out of commission for the last couple of weeks has not helped my situation. Hence clothes mountain... have you ever seen such a mound? They're all clean, and folded now. I'll consider it a real accomplishment if I can get them put away before the week is done.
We've had a relaxing couple of days and were able to get some projects done around the house. All set for winter (boo) with the swamp cooler, sprinker system and trailer. And Dave started on his table for the train model he's planning to build Ben for Christmas. Of course Ben has no idea what he's helping Dad build. I think Dave comes up with ideas for projects solely based on what tool he wants an excuse to add to his collection. He picked up a skilsaw, and informed me 1) that his dad didn't want to loan him his (Dave's accident prone) 2) that it has claimed more fingers than any other saw and 3) that's how his uncle lost the tip of his finger. Just the sort of things a wife wants to know!
We even got around to raking up some leaves yesterday. Ben remembers from last year and has been counting the days until enough leaves are on the ground to rake up in a pile to jump in. Ben had a great time "in (his) swimming pool" complete with sharks and alligators.
Ben played cat for a good chunk of the weekend. Here he is after I responded to his request to pick him up and put him outside. What a cute kitty cat!
Going with the cat theme, in church today he was petting his stuffed cat and I was thinking to myself oh look how sweet he's being, my little boy does have a soft side... he says to me "My kitty cat's dead. The bad guys killed him." Then tonight we were reading the animated Book of Mormon as a family and Ben enjoyed it so much he wanted to read it in bed. I thought, this is great, he already has a love of the scriptures..famous last thoughts. He starts flipping through the pages, adding his own words "And then the bad guys were fighting, and they killed each other, and there was blood." (We had just read a part about the Lamanites and Nephites fighting, though I'm pretty confident the animated depiction doesn't show blood). So much for filtering video games and movies, Ben gets his violence fix from stuffed animals and the scriptures!
Ben's quote of the day: (looking at a couple of nickels in his hand) "This is my favorite ever money in my life because it has 1-2-3 pictures of Jesus" I personally don't think Jefferson bares much of a resemblance to any of the depictions of Christ that I've seen:)
I am SOOOOO glad I'm not the only person who doesn't put the clean clothes away! My stay folded in the laundry baskets until the next time I do the laundry and need the baskets again.
ReplyDeleteHey that's not so bad if you get it folded. Sometimes mine stay unfolded (and wrinkled) until I do the laundry again. I need a maid. I've missed company downstairs this week - our schedules have been off. Hope to see you next week! I hear you offered to help out with my beside him self baby yesterday:)
