Now that the boys don't come with me to work, my commuting options are a lot more flexible. I take the train almost exclusively because it saves me beaucoup bucks and makes my day at the office a bit shorter because I can work in transit. For the last couple of weeks, I've been leaving the car at home and biking to the train station. That way, I can flex in some exercise time, once again making my day at the office a little bit shorter (can you tell that this is my ultimate goal in life? )
But I've got to admit, I am way out of my league. Do you know the bike crowd? They're pretty hard core - fancy shoes, padded biking shorts, specialty tops, caps on head, expensive road bike complete with specialty bike bags. And then there's me, dressed in basic gym clothes and tennis shoes with an ill-fitting helmet and a $100 bike from Walmart with attached babyseat, toting a school backpack. The look in the cyclist's eyes say that they think I'm a poser, but I don't let it bother me. Because I know they're all secretly envious of my baby seat's ability to double as a backpack holder. Who wouldn't be?
I'm impressed. It's a better image than me on my bike... which is zip, nada.
