Jamestown

Jamestown lays its claim is the first permanent settlement in the US. And one of the best kid friendly history sites I've ever visited - they told us their rule is to touch everything. What a dream for parents of a 3 year old!

Since they had just done surgery on Dave's foot before we left, it was sore and so we utilized scooters and wheelchairs for all our sightseeing adventures.  Which besides saving Dave from pain, it came in handy for a tired 3 year old.

Ben grinding corn.

Making rope with a fair skinned indian.

Dave was particulary impressed with the blacksmithing shop, and would have spent the whole day there if we let him.  Among other bribes, I told him he could work as a blacksmith at Henricus and buy a scooter and a corvette if he would move me to VA.

Pulling up the anchor with grandma and grandpa's help.  Notice he has his hand over his eye in every picture - the boy has some serious light sensitivity issues!

Rowing in a dugout canoe.

On the ferry - now that's what you call a river!  Very windy!
